Privacy Policy

The General Psychotherapy Council (GPsyC) aims to keep stored personal data to a minimum, and only retains information for as long as it is deemed necessary to perform its duties appropriately and effectively. This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically and without prior notice to reflect changes in practice and the law.

The GPsyC does not pass data onto third parties. The GPsyC holds a public/online directory of its registered practitioners containing their names, registration numbers, localities, and contact details.

Emailing: The GPsyC retains email communications in order for the organisation to effectively and efficiently address or return to administrative matters and enquiries.

Telephone: The GPsyC does not record telephone conversations. Messages left on our voicemail systems are deleted no later than 30 days.

Practitioner data: The GPsyC retains the names, date of births, telephone numbers, postal addresses, email addresses, qualification certificates, professional references, and any other information related to membership, of its registered practitioners. This information is held for as long as a practitioner continues their registration with the GPsyC, and for up to 12 months from when practitioner memberships cease.

Concerns & Complaints: All data and administration relating to any GPsyC complaint matter is retained for two years from when the issue has been concluded; a record of a complaint outcome is held for the duration of the practitioner's membership.
