Trainee Membership - Free

The General Psychotherapy Council (GPsyC) welcomes applications from students who are in the process of completing an extensive psychotherapy training and would like to be affiliated with the GPsyC.

To become a Registered practitioner with the General Psychotherapy Council applicants are required to have had four or more years of psychotherapy and counselling training and a minimum of 100 hours of personal therapy/analysis.

The Trainee Membership route is suitable for students who are on advanced training courses and are themselves engaging in long-term personal psychotherapy. As is detailed in the application packs, trainee applicants need to submit a signed 'statement of fact', an official document confirming trainee/student status, and a 'supervisor's endorsement'. Trainee Membership is free, and although it does not confer to applicants the use of the post-nominal letters 'GPsyC' or publish their details on the GPsyC Register, it does allow trainees to join member-only seminars and events.

Once an application has been approved, the trainee will be informed, and sent their certificate of membership and their GPsyC trainee membership card.

All application packs are sent via post; please provide a correspondence address using the form below.
